First permanent co-encapsulation in situ of a UV filter in mesoporous silica
IS2M, a Carnot MICA member, in partnership with a cosmetics company, has developed a simple (in a single step) and effective UV filter co-encapsulation method using amphiphilic molecules in mesoporous silica. Testing showed excellent material stability with no salting-out detected. Tested in cosmetic formulations, these new materials have produced very promising results and the method has been registered for an international patent.
This new technique increases the sun protection factor and reduces contact with the skin, improving the skin’s tolerance to the products.
